HYENA

Hyena New

The hyena a nocturnal hunter and scavenger, notoriously hungry, it has long been a source of fear throughout Africa. However it is a survivalist, it uses instinct to make correct choices in all situations so that it can live on to fight another day. It knows when to retreat and when to stand it’s ground. It prefers smaller groups as apposed to larger ones, they are fiercely protective of their clan and can be quite vengeful. But their laughter reminds us that that they do not take themselves too seriously.

Throughout Africa, the eland is know as the animal of a thousand legends, sacred to many tribes. You’ll find it painted inside ancient caves, engraved on flat rocks and etched in African folklore. When close, you’ll be able to hear the distinctive click made by its’ knees because of it’s sheer size. It is said that the Khoisan language – with its characteristic clicks – originated from this sound. The eland move silent and elegantly and symbolizes strength, simplicity and a time when nature ruled Africa.
